Choice 2: Matthew 17:14–21. The Savior Healed a Young Man

1.    Review Matthew 17:14–21, and list three things the Savior said were needed for the disciples to heal the man.

• prayer
• fasting

2.    Read each of the following references. Next to the reference, write what it teaches about what is needed for miracles to happen. 

• 3 Nephi 18:20 - We are taught to pray as a family unto the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that you may be blessed. 
• Doctrine and Covenants 50:29 - We must be be clean of the body and the spirit from all sin, and ask in the name of Christ. 
• Doctrine and Covenants 42:48 - We must have faith. 

All of these scriptures point out that miracles can happen, but it is based on our faith and our preparation. Jesus Christ and his disciples have the power of the priesthood and can give us amazing blessings, but it is up to us whether or not we receive those blessings. We have to be in the right state of mind and body, we must be clean and have faith that the priesthood has the ability to make miracles happen.
